It's Cold As Mars in Tunguska, Siberia Where Temperatures Dropped To -80.32°F
Siberian temperatures have plunged to their lowest levels in at least two decades.

The Frigid Forecast
Siberian temperatures have dropped up to 50 degrees Fahrenheit (27.8 Celsius) below average, with the extreme cold extending as far west as Eastern Europe.
According to climate researcher Maximiliano Herrera, the little hamlet of Zhilinda in northern Siberia, which has fewer than 1,000 residents, saw its coldest January temperature ever on Tuesday when the temperature dropped to minus-79.8 degrees (minus-62.1 Celsius).
It was Siberia’s coldest temperature since 2002.
Some areas, according to computer simulations, may have been significantly colder, even as low as minus-81 (minus-62.8 Celsius). That’s the average annual temperature of Mars.
The Siberian city of Yakutsk, which is considered to be the coldest place on Earth, is experiencing extreme cold this winter.
Yakutsk had a temperature drop of – 62 degrees Celsius earlier this week.
Climate Change <> Global Warming
Cold air outbreaks do not go away as a result of global warming; they just get less frequent and intense.
This level of cold has become increasingly rare in recent years due to climate change brought on by humans.
Herrera stated that Zhilinda was just minus-82.3 degrees away from breaking its previous record low (minus-63.5 Celsius).
The lowest temperature ever recorded in any inhabited region of the Northern Hemisphere, and the record low for the entirety of Russia, is minus-89.9 degrees (minus-67.7 Celsius), which was recorded in February 1933.
At least a dozen official weather stations in Russia have recently recorded lows of minus-76 degrees (minus-60 degrees Celsius).
The southern Barents Sea, east of Scandinavia, and the Sea of Okhotsk, north of Japan, are both located within a broad area of extremely cold weather.
As of Wednesday, Zhilinda has not had a temperature increase above minus-58 degrees (minus-50 Celsius) in six days.
And in the upcoming evenings, temperatures are expected to drop once more to around minus-76 degrees (minus-60 Celsius).
Siberia is vast and sparsely populated, covering an area of over 13.1 million square kilometres (5,100,000 sq mi), but home to merely one-fifth of Russia’s population.
Siberia or Mars?
The surface of Mars is characterized by a variety of features, including vast plains, towering volcanoes, and deep canyons. The planet’s red color is due to iron oxide (rust) on its surface.
The largest volcano in the solar system, Olympus Mons, is located on Mars, as well as the deepest canyon Valles Marineris. The planet also has polar ice caps made of water and carbon dioxide. The surface of Mars is also covered in dust and sand, with some areas experiencing massive dust storms.
The average temperature on Mars is about -80 degrees Fahrenheit. The atmosphere on Mars is thin and mostly made of carbon dioxide.
Mars and Siberia are quite different environments. Mars is a barren, desert-like planet with a thin atmosphere, while Siberia is a cold, snowy region on Earth with a much denser atmosphere.
Mars is also much farther from the sun, which means it receives less light and heat. However, both places are known for their extreme conditions, with Siberia being known for its cold and Mars for its dryness and radiation.
Both places are of scientific interest due to their unique environments and potential for discovery.
